## 3rd Quarter: February 6 - 10

## Tuesday, February 7th

**2nd Period: Today in class….**

- Today we finally were able to finish and present our research on the different forms of lightning. Glad we could learn about these in a more interesting way than me standing up and talking about them!
- Next class, we'll start looking at the Electric field

**HOMEWORK:**Read in text, Chapter 33, Sections 1 - 3

**4th Period: Today in class…**

- Today we focused more on the electric field. We began by looking at how electric field lines are drawn using the rules made by Michael Faraday.
- Afterwards, we looked at the two different ways we can measure the strength of the electric field.
- Using a test charge or looking at the distance from a point source.
- We did Class Examples 1 - 4 to practice with these two techniques.

## Thursday, February 9th

**2nd Period: Today in class….**

- Today we finally were able to start a new chapter. We started to discuss the big picture of where we are going trying to get charge to flow and move.
- We then talked about what exactly a field is - a measurable value that can be measured in every point in space and time.
- Afterwards, we talked specifically about what the electric field is and how it can be visualized with electric field lines.

**4th Period: Today in class….**

- We practice with the two methods of calculating the electric field. We did some class practice with both formulas.
- Afterwards, we started to talk about the electric potential, but more about that later.
