## 2nd Quarter: October 31 - November 4

## Monday, October 31st and Tuesday, November 1st

**6th/1st Periods: Today in class….**

- Today we took our test on projectile motion. We'll start on forces and Newton's Laws of Motion next class period.

**HOMEWORK**: Extra Credit Problems

Lab Reports are also due next class period

## Wednesday, November 2nd

**6th Period: Today in class….**

- Today we started by going over our test on projectile motion. Most of you guys did a great job. For those that would like to do test corrections - please have these done by the end of next week.
- We then had our presentation from Jackson on how to shoot a basketball - a very timely presentation on projectiles!
- Afterwards, we moved on to Newton's Laws of Motion. We went over the first two laws today. Very much related to Newton's First Law is the proper definition of mass. Remember, mass is a measurement of inertia rather than 'stuff.'
- We were able to look at our first example to begin to see the mathematical applications of Newton's Second Law.
- More to come!

## Thursday, November 3rd

**1st Period: Today in class….**

- We started class by finally hearing Grant and Aiden's presentations. Excellent job, both of you!
- Afterwards, we started our unit on forces and Newton's laws of motion.
- We went over the first two laws today. Very much related to Newton's First Law is the proper definition of mass. Remember, mass is a measurement of inertia rather than 'stuff.'
- We were able to look at our first example to begin to see the mathematical applications of Newton's Second Law.
- To finish class, we discussed our two options for forces. They will either be in equilibrium and balanced or non-equilibrium and not balanced.

## Friday, November 4th

**6th Period: Today in class….**

- Today we start out with presentations from Macey and Nathan.
- Afterwards, we discussed our two options for forces. They will either be in equilibrium and balanced or non-equilibrium and not balanced. In addition, we also looked at the vector nature of forces.
- We did examples 2 and 3 to get some practice working with multiple forces in different directions.
- After that, we finished out the day talking about Newton's third law.
