## 2nd Quarter: November 7 - 11

## Thursday, November 10th

**2nd Period: Today in class….**

- Today we started out looking over our tests on Projectile Motion. If you would like to do test corrections, try to have them done by Wednesday of next week.
- Afterwards, we jumped back into Newton's Three Laws of Motion. We looked a little more at the vector nature of forces. We worked with example 4 to get some practice not only writing the statement for the sum of our forces, but actually calculating it as well.
- Afterwards, we looked at Newton's Third Law of Motion.
- Towards the end of class, we looked at the launch of 'Apollo 13' to see the three laws of motion applied.
- Our last topic was on the force of gravity before we ended for the day.

**4th Period: Today in class….**

- Today, we did a little bit of review of Newton's Laws before we started working more with our 'speciality forces.' These are forces that are a bit more specific and have a specific name and formula.
- So far we've discussed the force of gravity as well as the difference between mass and weight.
- Afterwards, we learned how to draw Free Body Diagrams (FBD) and how the normal force can be used out of surfaces.
- We did example 6 to get a little more practice with a more complex free body diagram.
- Towards the end of class, we competed with the Great Shoe Races (congratulations to our Vans winner!) to learn a little more about friction. Friction will be the focus of our class next time.
